How many sessions will I need?
Most tattoos require 5–12 sessions. It depends on ink colour and density, how old the tattoo is, your skin tone, and where it sits on your body.
Does it hurt?
Honestly, yes — but it’s very manageable. Most clients describe it as a hot rubber band flick. We use a Zimmer cryotherapy chiller (-35°C) and ice packs on our clients during every session. You are welcome to apply topical anaesthetic cream such as EMLA or NUMBIT which is available at any chemist.
Is it safe?
Yes. We hold a current Queensland Health Radiation Licence and use the Candela PicoWay — a clinically proven, TGA-recognised device. The laser uses non-ionising radiation with no effect on DNA structure.
Lasers used in tattoo removal have been in use for many years and in this time there has been no recorded case of increased development of cancers in the group treated.
Can I remove just part of my tattoo?
Absolutely. Partial removal is perfect for repairs, cover-up prep, or tidying up a design.
Can cosmetic eyebrow tattoos be removed?
Yes. We assess cosmetic inks individually at your free consultation as they behave differently to decorative tattoo ink.
Can all colours be removed?
The PicoWay’s multiple wavelengths handle all colours — black and dark inks respond fastest, while greens and yellows may take a few extra sessions.
Can I Get a New Tattoo Over Skin that has been Lasered?
Yes! You can certainly tattoo over the old tattoo after laser. We recommend you wait 12 weeks from your last laser to start a new tattoo. This gives you skin plenty of time to heal and fading.
What should I avoid before my session?
No sun exposure or fake tan on the treatment area for at least 4 weeks prior. Tanned skin increases the risk of adverse reactions and may require us to reschedule.
We will not proceed with any laser treatments if you are taking melanotan or any form of tanning injections or nasal sprays.
