Cosmetic Tattoo Removal

cosmetic tattoo removalThe demand for semi-permanent cosmetic tattooed makeup has increased significantly over the last ten years. Unfortunately, when a cosmetic tattoo eyebrow is applied incorrectly it can be devastating for the individual. The eyebrows may be the wrong color, style, or shape, and they make your facial expression look angry or unnatural. If this is you, laser tattoo removal may be the best and safest solution.

Cosmetic tattooing techniques and ink compounds differ from a normal tattoo, which means that they are usually easier to remove than a normal tattoo. Most cosmetic eyebrow treatments take between 1-5 laser sessions, spaced 6-12 weeks apart for complete removal. The process of removing your cosmetic tattooed eyebrows is quick and straightforward.

Here are some frequently asked questions for eyebrow tattoo removal:

How long does it take? Your first appointment will be scheduled for 30 minutes, we will talk you through the process, get you to fill out some paperwork, answer all of your questions and complete the treatment. The laser treatment itself is very quick, approximately 20 seconds per eyebrow. Most cosmetic eyebrow treatments will take between 1-5 laser sessions to remove, spaced 6-8 weeks apart for complete removal.

How soon after getting the new tattoo can I have it done? Like with regular tattoos, it’s best to wait 8-12 weeks before starting any laser treatments after getting a new tattoo (Check out our other blog posts for more information).  Cosmetic tattoos need to settle into the dermis of the skin before laser tattoo removal treatments begin.

My tattoo has changed colour! Is that ok? It’s a known fact in the industry that iron used in tattoo compounds, in particular cosmetic tattoos, will oxidize when treated with a laser, therefore expecting that the tattoo will turn into a rusty brownish/greyish colour after the first or second laser treatment is common.  Subsequent treatments will eventually remove the tattoo.

Can you remove just a part of my tattoo? We are able to treat only parts of the eyebrow/any tattoo; the laser is very accurate.

How do you protect my eyes? In our clinic for the removal of any facial tattoos we will supply you with protective stainless steel goggles that you must wear over the eyes.

What is the aftercare process? There is no down time with laser tattoo removal, although with face or cosmetic tattoos, we recommend no make-up or creams on the treated area for at least 2-3 days.  Rest is always highly recommended after laser tattoo removal as your body is working to remove ink particles. We can also recommend to ice the area down to avoid excess swelling. But, we will take you through all of the aftercare and provide you with all the information you need in your first treatment!

Is hair loss a real concern? Some whitening (frosting) of the hair will occur after the laser treatment, this is temporary and any hair loss during treatments will grow back.

What do I have to do after my first treatment? After your first treatment it is normal to expect, pinpoint bleeding and swelling. The swelling will subside within the next 24 hours and in about two weeks, the skin should be back to normal.

How much does it cost? The cost per treatment will vary between clinic’s dependent on their level of experience and type of lasers used. We charge $50 per eyebrow or $80 for both eyebrows per laser treatment. We will also provide all of the necessary aftercare information to ensure you go home feeling confident and relaxed about your laser tattoo removal treatment.
